The modern allotment movement was founded by Daniel Gottlob Moritz Schreber in Germany.

1895
Sweden's first allotment "Citadellet" in

Landskrona. The first allotment area in Malmö.
 
1904
Allotment activities were established in Stockholm by Anna Lindhagen (1870-1941).

1905
Allotment "Söderbrunn" at Norra Djurgården, Stockholm.

1906
Allotment areas: "Barnängen", and "Eriksdalslunden", Stockholm.
 
1906
The first union was formed.
 
1911
Allotment area "Dalen", Stockholm.
 
1914
10 000 allotments in 26 cities in Sweden.

1915
Stockholm Allotment Association was formed.

1916
Stora Mossens" area,  Bromma in Stockholm.

1917
More allotment areas in Stockholm.
Iris allotment", Bromma in Stockholm.
 
1918
The magazine "Allotment Garden" was published.
 
1921
The city of Stockholm took over responsibility of the Swedish Allotment Gardens Association. Allotment area" Linnea", Bromma in Stockholm.

1920
Allotment areas in "Tanto", Stockholm.
 
1923
30 000 garden colonists in Sweden.
 
1924
The association " Stockholm Allotment Gardens FSSK" was formed.
 
1926
International Garden Association was established. Sweden became a member.
 
1930-1941
Nordic Allotment Association was formed by the unions in Sweden, Norway, Finland and

Denmark.

1936
Allotment area "Skarpnäck" in south of Stockholm with over 500 garden cottages.

1950 
Allotment area "Orhem", Stockholm
 
1950
Allotment area "Skrubba", Stockholm
 
1970
25-year agreement with unions in Stockholm.

1973
Hjulsta", Stockholm 242 allotments.

1997
Allotment area at Skansen in Stockholm was opened.

2001
The Aid Association for Skansen's Allotment Gardens was formed.

2003
Allotment area "Årstafältet"
 
2012
About 10,000 allotments in 150 areas in Stockholm. 275 local associations in Sweden.
